SPECIALIST COURSE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM
The Kim Baker Ballet Academy is one of the finest schools of Ballet in Perth and offers a gifted and talented program (Elite Specialist Course). It is designed for talented and dedicated students, and prepares the students for a possible career in dance.
We have had many successes with students attending the Specialist Courses, with students being accepted into the Australian Ballet School, WA Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA), New Zealand School of Dance, National Theatre Ballet School (Melbourne), Tanya Pearson Coaching Academy (Sydney), National College of Dance (Newcastle), Joffrey Ballet School in New York, Houston Ballet School, The Adelaide Centre of Performing Arts, Transitions Dance Company in England, The Victorian State Ballet Company and the Ballet Russe Company in Bulgaria.
Students from 8 years of age can audition for the Specialist after school program and high School students are invited to audition for both the Specialist After School Program and also the KBBA Professional Full Time Ballet Training Program. Specialist students from the part time program are invited to join the full-time program from level 2, however it is not compulsory.
The students attending this course are required to be extremely dedicated, and must attend all required specialist classes. This course is designed for talented students who can potentially pursue a career in dance. The number of training hours required of the students are part of a carefully designed schedule which puts the students in line with other gifted and talented students attending similar specialist schools throughout Australia. It is therefore IMPERATIVE that students attend all scheduled classes.
The specialist students attend more classes than the students who attend the standard course.
The Specialist after school course admittance is by audition only.

All specialist course classes are in line with the top specialist Australian Ballet Schools, with the classical tuition being based on the Vaganova syllabus (as taught at the Kirov Ballet School in Russia).
Certificate Course
All Specialist after school students can also attend Nationally recognized Certificate Courses held at KBBA. These include CUA10120 Certificate I in Dance, CUA20120 Certificate II in Dance and CUA30120 Certificate III in Dance, delivered in partnership with Empowerdance (RTO 40397). These certificates can be studied alongside the students schooling and Specialist dance courses.
