INTERMEDIATE / SENIOR

BALLET AND CONTEMPORARY

9 to 18 years of age

The intermediate / senior course is designed for the students who love the joy of dance. Students can attend as few or as many classes as they find suitable and the class schedule can be tailored to suit the individual student. Students attending this course can attend examinations and there are many performance opportunities as well. Creative and Contemporary Classes are also introduced at this level

Grade 4 and Grade 5 (8 to 11 year olds)

Students studying Classical Ballet at these levels can attend two technical classes per week, achieving a confident approach to their training. Grades 4 and 5 are also offered the opportunity to attend the Production class, and Creative class on Fridays, where the students delight in learning new, more challenging dances, which are performed on various occasions throughout the year. The students can participate in a stage examination and class examination during Term 3, with the compulsory examination preparation course held in the second week
of the July school holidays. All students participate in the end of year performance. 
Creative classes are also available to students at this level, and whilst not compulsory, they are highly recommended.

Specialist course classes are also offered at this level of study.
Talented and dedicated dancers are selected for specialist classes at this level. This course is a comprehensive dance curriculum, for students who would like to pursue a career in dance. 

 

If your child would like to participate in classes with no examinations, then you can choose the classes required for fulfilment and the joy of dance, and the students can attend 1 or more classes each week.

Senior Grades and Levels (10 year olds and above)

Two classical technique classes per week are necessary for all Senior Grade students who would like to participate in examinations and Production class.

 

Those students commencing pointe work (12 years and over), attend an additional pointe class, per week, in order to achieve the physical strength required. These students have their feet checked in January by our appointed physiotherapist prior to commencing pointe classes.
 

All senior grades can participate in a stage examination, and class exam during Term 3. The compulsory examination preparation course held in the second week of the July school holidays.

 

At 12 years of age, contemporary classes are also on offer, and are highly recommended, as they help the students to broaden their dance appreciation and enhance their performance skills and creativity. Production, creative, stretching and fitness classes are available and are highly recommended and very popular. All students participate in the end of year performance.
