Senior production Class (grades 4, 5 and Senior) This class is designed to enhance performing skills and begins the study of Corps de Ballet work. Additional styles including character dance are also introduced. These classes provide a stimulating learning environment for the students, and an opportunity for the students to perform at local events. Confidence and coordination skills are developed along with repertoire knowledge. Contemporary (Senior Grades) Established in the 20th century 'Modern Dance' or Contemporary Dance is an extension of Classic Ballet, and is performed in all Classical Ballet companies around the world. These classes enable the students to broaden their dance movement and coordination skills. A variety of techniques are taught, with students performing contemporary floor and centre work. Students develop their own unique creativity through composition. The contemporary classes have proved to be very popular, and are highly recommended for the students to enhance their performance skills and creativity. Creative Classes (Grade 4, 5 & senior) The Creative Class is designed for the students to experience other dance forms, such as jazz, neoclassical, modern and contemporary styles. During the 2nd term, the students perform for the annual KBBA choreographic event, held at the Kalamunda Performing Arts Theatre. This major fundraising event is staged by the senior students, who also choreograph for the younger students. The senior students are assessed on this, their major dance project. The choreographic event is directed and overseen by Kim Baker. The second half of the year is based on performance of a contemporary style, for the end of year production. Adult Class The adult ballet class is suitable for all levels of standard, from beginners to advanced. Emphasis is placed on enjoyment of dance, strong technique, fitness, strength and stretching. Tiny Tots The Tiny Tots classes are a stimulating dance experience, developing imagination, self expression, musicality, rhythm, dance movement, coordination, good posture, and listening skills. All these skills being vital for your child's self esteem and confidence. The children are required to bring a favourite toy from home to each class, as we incorporate them into the first dance. A small scarf (chiffon or silky types are the best) is required for each class. If you are unable to bring a scarf to class, the teacher will be able to give your child one of hers to borrow for the class. The students attending these levels are also required to bring a drink of water in a pop up bottle to each class. All of the items needed for ballet, should be brought to class in a 'ballet bag'. This can be any bag that the children have at home, or even a plastic shopping bag would be sufficient. Parents are allowed to stay and participate during the Tiny Tots 1 class, however, parents are not allowed to stay for the Tiny Tots 2 classes. Parents of the Tiny Tots 2 students are invited to watch their child on the last class of every term, and are notified of this event before the end of term. The students look forward to performing for their parents and friends on this special day
